The Aqualand Maspalomas (Aquasur) is the biggest water park in the Canary Islands. There are 14 attractions and more than 30 slides. The park is located at a tropical oasis in the south of the island, not far from Maspalomas. The park is open all year round thanks to the constant balmy temperature of the island. The Mini Park and Polynesia go down well with the kids and Mamut is an attraction that permits the whole family to enjoy a group slide in a large dingy. Palmitos Park: Palmitos Park in Maspalomas is a favourite attraction for families and offers a real chance to get up close to over 200 different species of birds which include majestic Flamingos, African and South American Ibises and other birds. There is also a colourful aviary where visitors can enjoy watching at a close range the flight and behaviour of these attractive birds from Oceania. At the Palmitos Park’s aquarium you will see a small Pacific reef housing a broad variety of tropical fish, including clownfish, lion fish and yellow tangs, and coral. There is also a section for reptiles plus a butterfly house, orchid house and a cactus garden. There is also a Primates Island which is, without a doubt, one of the highlights of Palmitos. Puerto Rico Aqua Park is perfect for families with something for children of all ages. It offers various bathing facilities and a good selection of water slides and boasts that the park offers the fastest slide on
the island. The Aqua Park is situated behind Puerto Rico’s shopping centre and offers a chance to get away from the beach and still have a fun day out. It also offers an area just for the very young along with the usual facilities such as a restaurant and changing rooms. Holiday World Leisure Complex: With its wealth of day and night time entertainment, Holiday World has something for everyone. In addition to the funfair, the complex features bouncy castles and a ball pool for children, as well as several restaurants, an internet cafe, pubs, a night club, an amusement arcade, a spectacular Wellness Centre equipped with the latest health and well-being technology and the Punto Zero 16-lane bowling alley. Sioux City: Take a step back to the days of the ‘Wild West’, when cowboys and Indians roamed the plains of America. Sioux City was built in the 1970’s to cater for the growing demand for films based on the wild west but has since become a great attraction with several live shows being performed throughout the day. The park is open daily except Mondays and also offers a great evening show on Friday where you can dine and be entertained. There’s something for all ages and makes an ideal day out. Parque de los Cocodrilo (Crocodile Park) is situated near the town of Aguímes, a few miles southwest of the airport. The park is home to the biggest collection of crocs in Europe as well as a variety of other animals such as birds and monkeys. The park is open Sunday to Friday 10am to 6pm throughout the
year but don’t worry if you’re a late riser as the Crocs are fed at 12pm, 2pm and 4.15pm and this is something that you shouldn’t miss. If you’re more interested in feeding yourself then the park has a good restaurant where you can also see a show where parrots perform various tricks, including doing a jigsaw puzzle and roller skating. |
